Porches

A porch is normally attached to the front of a building and in some circumstances to the side. If required it can be manufactured with a brick base and window frames and french doors or if required also with full pvc or glass panels (required to be toughened).

porch external pvcu

This is a typical porch which can be found on most UK homes.

As the space is limited in properties in inner city homes porches are often used to remove jackets coats and shoes.

A visitor to a property will normally wait in the porch during bad weather.

The roof of a porch can either be upvc or tile and timber.

It is recommended that there is at least 1 opening light on the window included on any porch due to condensation problems people often experience. As trickle vents are required on most windows that problem has been reduced by most companies.

You can build a porch without planning permission, as long as it does not exceed 2 square metres in area and is more than 2 metres from any public road or footpath. Where the porch has a tiled or slated pitched roof, it must not exceed 4 metres in height, or 3 metres for any other roof type. A front porch within these limits is the only type of development allowed to extend beyond the front wall of the building (the building line) and still remain exempted.

We supply and manufacture porches including new roofs at very good prices. Pictures of our installed porches will be coming soon to this page.
